Report: US Airlines Performed Worse in 2014

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — If you’ve noticed air travel isn’t as pleasant as it used to be, you’re not alone.
According to new study out Monday, airline performance was worse in all of the major categories last year.
The annual Airline Quality Rating report found that in 2014, U.S. air carriers were about 2 percent less likely to arrive on time, 13 percent more likely to lose bags and 3 percent likelier to bump passengers from flights.
The report, which examines Department of Transportation statistics, also found that complaints to the government about everything airlines do wrong went up 22 percent.
Overall, big carriers did better than smaller ones. Virgin America and Hawaiian Airlines were rated among the best, while Envoy Air and Frontier were among the worst.
