Sabres Fire Head Coach Ted Nolan

2 27 12%20NHL%20Logo?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1428934620623Len Redkiles/NHLI via Getty Images(BUFFALO, N.Y.) — The Ted Nolan era is over in Buffalo, again. The Sabres announced they’ve parted ways with the coach after a disastrous 2014-2015 season.

“I don’t think it was a bad fit. I don’t think it was a great fit,” general manager Tim Murray said. “Maybe it’s just chemistry. Maybe it’s just two different personality.

“I know this isn’t a popular thing,” Murray added. “To me, it’s about getting better. I feel this was an opportunity for us to improve and keep improving. And that’s certainly no disrespect to Ted.”

The Sabres finished dead last in the NHL this past season with 54 points after posting a 23-51-8 record.

Nolan originally coached the Sabres for two seasons from 1995-1997, but left the team when he was offered on a one-year extension following his initial success with the organization. He was re-hired in November 2013 when Ron Rolston was fired. He wound up going 40-87-17 in his second stint with Buffalo.
