Science Olympiad set for Saturday

POCATELLO — Idaho State University will hold a Science Olympiad for regional seventh through ninth graders on Saturday.

Students from local schools will compete in teams in a variety of science competitions. The events include water rockets, gliders, rubber band powered racers, a forensics challenge and students can test their knowledge of entomology and experimental design.

The event, which is open to the public, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in multiple rooms of the Physical Science Building at the corner of 8th Avenue and Carter Street in Pocatello. Peak activity will be from 10 a.m. to noon, according to a news release.

Winning teams will be encouraged to compete in the state competition in Nampa on April 11. The Idaho champion team will be invited to compete in the National Science Olympiad at Indiana University in May.
