As it turns out, the injury was the result of a shower accident.

After the team’s game on Sunday, Gennett sliced one of his knuckles on a metal rack.

“I went to grab some body wash like I would normally grab body wash,” Gennett said. “It was definitely a freakish thing. It started bleeding everywhere. I didn’t feel any type of pain. I have my strength but something like that reopening and getting worse isn’t what we want.”

It is uknown just how long Gennett will be out of action for the last-place Brewers.

“He doesn’t understand how in the world you can possibly get hurt in the bathroom,” said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke.

Gennett is hoping to return to the field on Wednesday, but no decisions have been made yet.
