Vargas, Suzuki Power Twins Over Royals, 8-5
Published at(MINNEAPOLIS) — Twins first baseman Kennys Vargas and catcher Kurt Suzuki each blasted a two-run home run as Minnesota (3-6) took care of the Kansas City Royals (7-2) on Thursday afternoon, 8-5.
Trailing the Royals 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning, Vargas took a 1-1 offering from Royals starter Jason Vargas (1-1) and sent it over the left-field wall. He would finish the day 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Twins starter Tommy Milone (2-0) allowed three earned runs on seven hits across 5 1-3 innings of work. Closer Glenn Perkins recorded the game’s final two outs to picked up his second save of the year .
Outfielder Lorenzo Cain put Kansas City on the board first with a two-run blast. He finished the contest 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs.
