Funeral for LDS Apostle Boyd K. Packer set for Friday
Published at | Updated atSALT LAKE CITY — Funeral services for President Boyd K. Packer, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will be held Friday, July 10, in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, church officials announced Saturday.
The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. and anyone ages 8 or older may attend, church officials said. Doors to the Tabernacle will open at 9:30 a.m.
President Packer, 90, died Friday of causes incident to age, church officials said. He was ordained an apostle on April 9, 1970, and became acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1994 and president in 2008.
A private burial service at the Brigham City Cemetery will follow the funeral, the Church statement said.
No public viewing is planned but the Church welcomes expressions of sympathy on President Packer’s Facebook page.
