NFL Suspends Kansas City Chiefs’ Sean Smith for DUI
Published at | Updated at(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — The Kansas City Chiefs’ Sean Smith has been suspended by the National Football League for three games after violating the league’s substance abuse policy, a source told ESPN.
A judge gave the 28-year-old cornerback two years of probation after Smith pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in April.
According to ESPN, the NFL’s policy on substance abuse usually warrants a two-game suspension. In cases where property is damaged, however, a harsher penalty may be issued. Smith’s car struck and damaged a light pole, prompting police to pull him over.
