One of the Men Tied to International Soccer Scandal Pleads Not Guilty
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — One of the men charged with corruption tied to international soccer pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday.
Alejandro Burzaco pleaded not guilty to a number of charges that accuse him of paying “bribes and kickbacks to obtain the media rights” to several soccer tournaments.
Prosecutors said Burzaco and others were part of a scheme to pay $110 million dollars in bribes to FIFA officials.
Burzaco is from Argentina and ran a sports media and marketing company that eventually won the rights to Copa America tournaments.
The judge has set bail at $20 million dollars.
