POCATELLO – Six children, including an infant, were reported abandoned at the “Revive at Five” event in Pocatello Wednesday night, according to a news release.

Pocatello police officers cared for and entertained the children for several hours at the police department while they investigated and tried to locate the parents. Two child protection workers from the Department of Health and Welfare assisted officers with the children and the investigation.

The three officers, who are all parents themselves, said it was difficult to see the condition the children were in – due to lack of water and proper clothing for the temperature.

Two of the children were declared in “imminent danger” and placed into protective custody with Child Protection Services. The parents of those two children were cited for child endangerment and released. The mother of the other four children, responded from out of town to take custody of her children.

Pocatello police are reminding parents to know where their children are at all times and who they are with.
