Grand Jury Indicts Ray McDonald, Ahmad Brooks on Rape, Sexual Battery Charges

Ray McDonald (L) and Ahmad Brooks (R) Photo by Michael Zagaris/San Francisco 49ers/Getty Images(SAN FRANCISCO) — A grand jury has indicted former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald and current 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks on Wednesday, months after the two were separately charged with sexually assaulting the same woman.
According to the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office, the indictments stem from a December 15, 2014 incident at McDonald’s home. McDonald was indicted on one count of rape of an intoxicated person, while Brooks faces one count of misdemeanor battery. Brooks faces a maximum of six months in prison. His arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
McDonald, however, has a history of off-field issues, including an additional indictment for violating a domestic violence restraining order. That indictment carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison, while the rape charge could land him in prison for up to eight years.
The grand jury did decline to indict McDonald on separate charges stemming from a May incident with a separate woman.
McDonald is set to be arraigned next month.
