IDAHO FALLS – Two men are lucky to be alive after their plane crashed into the Snake River southwest of Irwin Thursday evening.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says a two person Husky Aviata plane struck a wire that was strung across the river. The plane flipped upside down and landed in the water.

Deputies say both adult men walked away from the accident unharmed. After they climbed out of the river, they walked a over a mile to call for help.

Bonneville County backcountry deputies and Dive team members responded to the scene and, as of Thursday night, the plane is still in the river.

Names of those involved in the accident have not been released.
