IDAHO FALLS — It was nothing but red, white and blue at Riverbend Ranch on Thursday, Aug. 27 when Republicans from all over the state of Idaho gathered to hear Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky speak.

Paul had made appearances in Boise, Nampa and Coeur D’Alane earlier that day before stopping in Idaho Falls.

The Kentucky Senator spoke mainly about minimizing government, lowering taxes, balancing the U.S. budget and re-establishing confidence in a once victorious Republican Party.

“I want to be the party that actually balances the budget,” Paul said. “I want to be the party that returns the money to the people.”

The Senator said that in order to win the Presidency in the upcoming election, the Republican Party needs to be more vocal about what it stands for.

Paul said the Republican Party should be spreading the message of liberty, and should be the party of privacy and justice.

“I’m running for the presidency, not because I want more power,” Paul said. “I want to give power back to the states and to the people.”
