After serving on the St. Anthony City Council for six years, Evan Bastow is now seeking an opportunity to serve on the Idaho Falls City Council.
An IT worker at Doug Andrus Trucking, Bastow enjoys being involved in the community and wants to serve on a level where he can make a difference.
Bastow says one of the main reasons he is running is the need to keep a balance on the City Council.
“I feel I could add some balance to the council that would be a way that people would appreciate,” he said.
Raising city taxes the past two years is something Bastow says he is concerned about and feels there are creative ways to manage the budget without draining local residents.
Bastow is also concerned that an increase in taxes is scaring businesses away from the city, driving them to the county or to Ammon.
