Name: Tisha Flora

City: Rexburg

Seat: City Council

After helping raise money for a special needs playground in Rexburg, Tisha Flora has decided to take that initiative and run for the Rexburg City Council.

In addition to working with those with special needs, Flora, a mother of six, serves on a local planning and zoning board.

As a newcomer to the political field, Flora says she represents the common, hard-working people of Rexburg and wants to bridge the city and citizen.

Flora says Rexburg needs to be more competitive in drawing business and good paying jobs to the city to help keep local talent around. City leaders need to be more community minded, particularly with the cities aesthetics and citizens, she said, adding that they need to listen to what citizens want and need, and get them involved.

Flora would also like to see fiber optic infrastructure come to the city, and she is studying how Provo and Orem, Utah, accomplished the feat.
