UPDATE: SUV crashes through Idaho Falls house

UPDATE: Idaho Falls Police report 35-year-old Gregary H. West of Idaho Falls was traveling westbound on 12th Street. At Spratt Ave. he veered south, jumping the curb and crashed into a residence. West was arrested for driving under the influence. Witnesses and evidence noted West was ‘huffing’ before and after the crash occurred.
IDAHO FALLS — A master bedroom was completely demolished after a black SUV crashed into a home on the corner of 12th Street and Spratt Ave.
“I was in the front room when I heard an explosion,” homeowner Colleen Wright said. “At first I thought it was an explosion, until I walked around a bit and heard a motor running beyond the bedroom door.”
Idaho Falls police and fire responded to the accident.
Witnesses say the vehicle jumped the curb and crossed the lawn before crashing into Jim and Colleen Wright’s home at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
“The room itself is gone,” Wright said. “If this had been at night we’d be dead — no question about it.”
The man, who has not been identified, was removed from the vehicle and taken from the scene by police.
No one was injured or transported from the scene.
