Washington Nationals Fire Manager Matt Williams
Published at | Updated at(WASHINGTON) — The Washington Nationals are cleaning house after failing to make it to the playoffs.
Following a season-ending 1-0 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday, the team fired its manager, Matt Williams, along with his coaching staff.
Williams, the 2014 National League Manager of the Year, had been with the Nationals for two seasons. This year, under his supervision, the team went 83-79, finishing seven games behind the Mets in the National League East.
