FORT HALL — A GoFundMe account has been established for the family of a 7-year-old girl killed in a car accident Tuesday evening.

Officials say Elena Holbrook, 39, of Blackfoot was traveling with her four children on I-15 near Fort Hall when they were hit by a semi truck. ISP says the driver of the semi, Terry Laeger, 60, of Pocatello, lost control of the vehicle after a tire blew. Police say Laeger’s vehicle crossed through the median and onto the northbound lanes where Holbrook was driving.

Family members say seven-year-old Madelyn Holbrook died at the scene.

Her mother, Elena Holbrook, was airlifted to Portneuf Medical Center in serious condition. Seat belts and child seats were being used at the time of the crash.

A message on the GoFundMe page set up for the family reads:

On November 24 they were in a horrible car accident outside of Blackfoot, Idaho that killed their 7 year old daughter Madelyn. The mother, Elena, is in the hospital with serious injuries that will require a long recovery. They could use the support of our community to help with medical bills, funeral expenses, etc. Please pray for this family during this holiday season, and donate what you can.
