How Snapchat can make your holiday travels more enjoyable

  Published at  | Updated at

Stuck in an airport on a delayed layover on your way to Thanksgiving dinner and have no idea what to do?

Snapchat hopes you’ll send some selfies to your friends and family.

This week, traveling Snapchat users will have 75 new filters to use for their photos, thanks to a collaboration between the social media app and General Electric, who “want to be there for what can be the most stressful part of the journey: waiting for the plane or train to arrive,” The International Business Times reported.

Travelers who are in specific airports — like JFK in New York or LAX in Los Angeles — or Amtrak stations will have the option of adding a filter that looks like a boarding pass or plane ticket, The IB Times reported. These filters will be available from Nov. 25 until Nov. 30, giving travelers filter options on both the trip out and the arrival home, The IB Times reported.

In recent years, Snapchat’s reputation as a troubling quick-photo exchange app for teens has dwindled, and has actually proven to help families stay in contact.

“It makes a lot more of a stronger connection than just putting a post on Facebook for everybody to see,” Crystal Hartwell, a mother of three from Seattle, told Q13-FOX.

Aside from Snapchats of travelers, users this Thanksgiving will likely receive several different pictures from their friends and family celebrating the holiday.
