Winter Storm Leaves at Least 100,000 in Oklahoma Without Power
Published at | Updated at(OKLAHOMA CITY) — Severe weather has hit the middle of the country this holiday weekend.
It’s a wintry storm that’s left at least 100,000 in central Oklahoma without power as of Saturday night and at least 12 dead in north Texas because of torrential rain.
According to meteorologists, the intense rains are slowing down, but the danger is not over yet.
“We have a large cyclone in the upper parts of the atmosphere, spinning around in the western U.S., and that’s been sitting there pretty much in place,” meteorologist Roger Edwards with the Storm Prediction Center told ABC News.
To stay safe, Edwards suggests people in the affected areas should turn around if they encounter flooded roads even if the water is only a few inches deep.
