Pro Skier Sammy Carlson Amazes with Soaring, 24-Story Jump
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Newly-released video shows professional skier Sammy Carlson launching 500 feet into the air and jumping backwards on Copper Peak, a ski jump in Michigan billed as the largest ski jump in the Western Hemisphere.
The jump made Carlson, an X Games medalist and Portland, Oregon, native, the first skier to hit a “ski-flying” long jump with freestyle intent, according to production agency Teton Gravity Research.
The agency partnered with Carlson to release The Sammy C Project, an inspirational film shot across North America. The film was released this week on iTunes.
