Playing host to the downtrodden Los Angeles Lakers and retiring Kobe Bryant, the Sixers managed to defeat their opponents — 103-91 — for the first time all season. The Sixers had lost their first 18 games of the year, in addition to losses in the last ten games of the 2014-2015 season, marking an American professional sports record of 28 consecutive losses.

The 0-18 start to the year had tied the National Basketball Association record held by the 2009-2010 New Jersey Nets.

Led by 23 points from forward Robert Covington and a strong all-around night from Jerami Grant — 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four blocks — the Sixers came back from an eight-point halftime deficit.
