POCATELLO — A Blackfoot man is accused of kicking and punching police officers while he was being arrested for trespassing.

Elliot Johnnie, 57, was taken into custody Thursday, Jan. 21. This is his second arrest in two weeks.

Pocatello police say they received a call from a convenience store employee concerning Johnnie, a man who has been previously trespassed at the business.

Investigators report Johnnie was causing problems with customers as he asked them for money and requested several of them buy him alcohol.

Police arrived just after 11 p.m. and tried to remove Johnnie from the property. Officers said he was not cooperative.

“He punched, kicked and spat on officers,” Dianne Brush, a spokeswoman with the Pocatello Police Department, told EastIdahoNews.com.

Johnnie also allegedly continued to kick after being secured in the patrol vehicle.

He was taken to the Bannock County Detention Center and, while detention staff searched him, Johnnie began to kick again and struck a jailer, investigators said.

Johnnie was booked into the Bannock County Jail for misdemeanor trespassing, misdemeanor resisting arrest and misdemeanor battery.
