POCATELLO — City employees have donated more than $24,500 of their own money for the United Way of southeast Idaho.

United Way collected donations through its annual campaign that began in Sept. 2015. Employees made the donations through bi-weekly payroll deductions as well as one-time gifts.

Workers were also able to specify which efforts their donations contributed to, such as helping children, promoting health or specific non-profit groups.

“I would like to thank the employees for their generosity and commitment to improving lives in Pocatello and east Idaho,” said Brian Wellard, Pocatello Sanitation Department operations supervisor, in a news release.

The average of donations reached about $111 for the 221 employees who participated. In combination with donations received from the last two years, employees have donated $52,000.
