DETROIT — This touching video shows the moment a teenager woke up after a heart transplant and told his emotional parents: ‘I can breathe again.’
Trevor Sullivan of Detroit was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy in February 2015. He underwent surgery when a donor heart became available after eight months of waiting.
The 15-year-old asked his mother Kimberly to record his first moments after the anesthesia wore off following his operation on November 13.
In the video, a tearful Trevor tells his parents: ‘I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting so long. I can breathe again and talk.’
Earlier this week, Philip Sullivan shared a clip on the Facebook page for the Gift of Life Michigan. The non-profit organization promotes organ and tissue donation.
