IDAHO FALLS — Police K9 dogs are a valuable resource to law enforcement officers all around the country.

The dogs regularly participate in training sessions to make sure their skills are adequate to handle the pressures of a demanding job.

This morning we joined with the Idaho Falls Police Department as K9 Rocky practiced his drug searching and apprehension techniques.

I even agreed to put on a bite suit and allow Rocky to “attack” me.

Let me tell you – it was a hundred times more intense than what I was expecting. I was physically exhausted after the short drill and my body is still aching.

It makes me appreciate the work of police officers and their K9 companions even more than I already did.

I’m putting together a story right now that will be posted later today. I’ve posted a short video preview above to show you what the training was like.
