RIGBY — A teenage girl was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle, Wednesday, Jan. 20.

The 14-year-old, who has not been identified, attempted to cross the street at 530 West 1st South, in Jefferson County at about 3 p.m.

Rigby Police tell EastIdahoNews.com the girl was crossing the street to meet her mother. Police say the girl failed to look both ways before crossing, and subsequently struck.

When police arrived, they found a Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane and a group of people around the juvenile female lying on the ground. The passenger side fender of the Camry had some damage, along with the passenger side windshield, according to police.

The driver of the Camry said she had pulled out from the high school at approximately 35 mph, when the juvenile stepped off from the snowbank alongside of the road and into her lane of travel. She tried to swerve but was unable to avoid hitting the juvenile.

The teen was treated for minor injuries and released.
