ISLAND PARK — Two men died in separate snowmobiling accidents Tuesday, Jan. 26, after their vehicles went off paths and hit trees.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies and emergency responders were called to a snow machine accident in the Baker Draw area of Island Park at 1:30 p.m. Jack Doxey, 79, of North Ogden, Utah was snow machining and missed a curve and hit a tree. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The second accident happened around 10:45 p.m. in the Island Park area on the trail from Elk Creek to Ponds Lodge. Blaine W. Jarvis, 31, from Manitoba, Canada had been riding with a group back to their cabin and had become separated from them and hit a tree. Jarvis was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
