Utah’s coach addresses canceling rivalry game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KUTV) — University of Utah Basketball Coach Larry Krystkowiak delivered a news conference Monday morning to comment on the controversial canceling of the rivalry game with Brigham Young University for the 2016-2017 basketball season.

Krystkowiak said it was a combination of events that lead to him making his decision.

This was not something he wanted to do, but felt he had to do because of the nature of the rivalry.

He said tensions in the in-state rivalry have been bad for a century and if the buck has to stop with them, then that’s OK.
