The following is a news release from Idaho State University:

POCATELLO — Men’s Health magazine cover model Aydain Dowling will speak at Idaho State University on Thursday, Feb. 25.

He will be talking about what it means to be transgender.

“The Gender Resource Center at Idaho State University strives to bring socially relevant programming to campus. We are very excited to host Aydian Dowling and hope that students, faculty, staff and the community will come and listen to Aydian’s’ amazing story,” ISU Gender Resource Center Assistant Director Stephanie Richardson said. “This will be an educational experience for all that attend and will provide an opportunity to learn about Aydian’s journey and amazing accomplishments.”

“SAGA (Sexality and Gender Alliance ISU student club) is proud to be a part of Aydian coming to ISU to raise awareness about transgender issues, a topic that is often stigmatized and sensationalized in rural and small town Idaho,” said Joe Crupper, president of SAGA, a co-sponsor of the event.

The Gender Resource Center strives to develop a supportive and inclusive community that understands the intersections of gender and sexuality with race, ethnicity, class, ability, age, culture, nationality and immigration status. It promotes overcoming suppression of others through education and affirming and honoring people’s identities and lifestyles.

The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in in the Rendezvous Complex Suites A, B and C in Pocatello.
