Deputies from two counties arrested a woman who they say is responsible for a 3-year-old’s head injuries.

Lorena Ocampo-Garcia, 24, of Idaho Falls, was arrested on a warrant for aggravated battery on Thursday, Feb. 25. According to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Ocampo-Garcia is the girlfriend of the young boy’s father. He was in her care on Tuesday, Feb. 23, and was taken to the hospital for a severe head injury. Medical personnel were suspicious of the nature of the injury and told law enforcement.

Bonneville County detectives obtained the warrant. She was located Thursday evening in Madison County and arrested with help from Madison County deputies.

As of Friday, she was being held on a $100,000 bond in the Bonneville County Jail. Court documents also listed her as being charged with a deadly weapon in commission of a felony.

The boy is being cared for at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
