The boyfriend referenced in this story contacted EastIdahoNews.com Monday afternoon and disputes the police’s accounting of events. Today, he appeared in court with Packham and advocated for her.

“She is the mother of my daughter, she’s an amazing mother and the events that happened that night were misconstrued,” he said. “That’s not how any of this happened.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

POCATELLO — A woman attempted to strangle her boyfriend while leaving her small children in a cold car, according to the Pocatello Police Department.

Lindsey Packham, 23, was arrested and charged with felony attempted strangulation and three counts of misdemeanor injury to a child, early Saturday, Feb. 6.

Pocatello Police spokeswoman Dianne Brush tells EastIdahoNews.com Packham placed several of her kids in a cold car, and then began arguing with her boyfriend. During the argument, police say Packham attempted to strangle her boyfriend.

The Pocatello woman then left the home with her children. Witnesses told police they were concerned with how she was acting, Brush said. Her boyfriend called police to report that he had been battered. Responding officers spotted Packham’s car and pulled her over. Packham’s four-month-old child and two toddlers were inside the vehicle.

Packham was given three misdemeanor injury to a child citations because the children were inappropriately dressed for the cold weather and left in a cold vehicle for about 20 minutes, Brush told EastIdahoNews.com. After the arrest, the children were released to the boyfriend.

Packham was booked into the Bannock County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
