IDAHO FALLS — Yellowstone Bear World is welcoming 11 new bear cubs to the park this year and the public is invited to meet them this weekend.

The cubs made their first public appearance Thursday at Blast Off! in Idaho Falls and they will be meeting and greeting people through Saturday.

“You can actually sit with your family and hold one of our new cubs,” Courtney Ferguson, Vice President of Yellowstone Bear World, said. “It’s a real unique experience.”

The two-month-old bears join dozens of their older brothers and sisters at Yellowstone Bear World. Thousands of people come from all over the world to drive through the park, which is scheduled to open April 16.

“We’ve got some new construction projects around the walking areas of the parking and in late April we’re bringing in a new roller coaster,” Ferguson said.

The cubs will be at Blast Off! Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Admission is $1.25 to look at the cubs and $20 for a photo.

If you can’t make it out this weekend, the bears will be on display when Yellowstone Bear World opens next month.

“They’ll be twice the size they are now and climbing and wrestling all over the place,” Ferguson said.
