Missing Idaho Falls man found safe

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.) – Idaho Falls Police have released the following update:

Officers found a missing 20‐year‐old Idaho Falls man safe near Bowlero Lanes on
First Street Friday morning.

Chase Johnson was found hours after he was reported missing Thursday night thanks to a citizen
tip.

According to reports, the police department began searching for Johnson – a vulnerable adult –
around 9:40 p.m. The family reported Johnson had left the house and they did not know his
whereabouts.

Members of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Bonneville County Search and Rescue and Idaho
State Police joined in the search. A search and rescue dog was also utilized.

The police department issued a Code Red notification with a three‐mile radius at 1:23 a.m. A second
Code Red notification with a five‐mile radius went out at 7:23 a.m.

After the second notification, officers received information from a citizen who reported seeing
Johnson in the 900 block of First Street. Police made contact with Johnson in the 600 block of First
Street around 7:40 a.m.

UPDATE (7:53 a.m.) – The Bonneville County Sheriff Office says Chase Johnson has been found and he is fine. He was located in the city and had “hunkered down” for the night. He is being reunited with his family.

IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls Police have issued a red alert and are requesting help in finding a missing and endangered man.

Chase Johnson, 20, was reported missing near 350 Pevero Drive in Idaho Falls, south of the Sage Lakes Golf Course late Thursday night. Police report the man has a diminished mental capacity equivalent of a 5- to 7-year-old child.

He was last seen at his residence at 7:30 p.m. The red alert was issued shortly before midnight.

Johnson is 6 foot, 120 pounds, has dark hair and recently had surgery on his jaw. He was last seen wearing a blue and white sweater, blue jeans and black shoes.

Law enforcement say he is extremely afraid of the dark and may be hiding.

A large police force was searching the area near Bish’s RV at about midnight. Bonneville Search and Rescue were on scene with Idaho Falls Police, Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho State Police troopers.
