REXBURG — A Georgia man was arrested for felony battery on an officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest after an altercation Wednesday, March 2.

Antonio Hennix, 23, had been released from the Madison County Jail on drug charges hours before the alleged encounter took place at a Brigham Young University-Idaho student apartment complex.

Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis says Hennix was returning to his apartment at 400 South 2nd West to pack up his belongings. The apartment manager asked police to be on site to keep the peace.

Officers say Hennix entered his apartment, locked the door and began playing loud music. When he allowed police inside, Lewis says Hennix grabbed a Taser and put it on a table.

One of the officers told Hennix he would hold the Taser until Hennix left the property. That’s when the man “flipped out” and allegedly attacked the officer, according to Lewis.

The officer was not seriously hurt and Hennix was booked in the Madison County Jail.
