Rexburg police investigate stabbing during late-night attempted robbery

REXBURG — A attempted robbery late Tuesday night sent one man to the hospital with stab wounds.
Rexburg Police Department officials said a man was walking his dog near Legacy Lane and Casper Ave. after 11 p.m. when he was confronted by a male from behind.
The suspect asked for the mans wallet. The victim refused and the two men began to fight.
During the altercation the victim was stabbed by an unknown weapon and the suspect fled. He was reportedly wearing dark clothing and had a hooded sweater over his head.
The victim returned home and was taken to Madison Memorial Hospital by a third party. He received stitches in his left leg.
Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis asks that if anyone witnessed the incident, or saw someone acting suspicious in the area, that they contact police.
