POCATELLO — The third weekday Delta flight is now in the skies above Pocatello.

Pocatello Regional Airport cut the ribbon for the new flight Wednesday with the help of the Pocatello Chiefs, other members of the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s Air Service Committee, and local officials. The additional Delta Connection service, operated by SkyWest Airlines, is a notable increase in daily service to and from Salt Lake City International Airport.

“One of the biggest benefits travelers will now have is over 300 inbound or outbound connecting opportunities at their disposal,” said David Allen, Pocatello Regional Airport Manager. “Additionally, the new weekday flight represents a 46 percent increase in our available seats and weekly flights.”

Currently, weekday departures are scheduled for 7 a.m., 12:25 p.m., and 6:15 p.m. Weekday arrivals make their way into Pocatello at 11:58 a.m., 5:50 p.m., and 10:45 p.m. The schedule joins the twice-daily service on Saturdays and Sundays.

“From time to time I have to travel for the City and I know the new schedule will improve my experience flying to and from Pocatello,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “The even spacing of the flights is going to make it much easier to travel from home.”

Late last year, Pocatello Regional Airport was named the sixth best airport in the country by online trip calculator Travelmath. The survey compared statistics on the percentage of delayed flights, average delay time, average taxi time, and more for 322 airports nationwide. The figures show that Pocatello Regional Airport lives up to its claims of fast, friendly, and convenient service.

“It’s fast because check-in and the average passenger screening wait time is five minutes or less,” said John Alexander, Chairman of the Pocatello Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce Airport Committee. “It’s friendly because the people who work there are our neighbors and they take great pride in their jobs. Lastly, it’s convenient because the airport is minutes from home; that beats a long drive after an even longer trip any day. You simply cannot beat the benefits of flying from Pocatello.”
