The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS — TMC Contractors, Inc., under contract with the City of Idaho Falls, will begin construction on the Whittier Street Water Line Project on Monday, March 28.

Whittier Street from Holmes Avenue to the intersection of Freeman Avenue will be closed to thru traffic due to water line and street reconstruction. Alternate routes have been established.

The project includes new water service installation to the homes located on the south side and right-of-way sections of Whittier Street. Temporary water service will be installed to the homes affected by the construction.

No parking will be permitted on Whittier Street, from Holmes Avenue to Freeman Avenue. Parking will also not be permitted in driveways in that area as to not disturb or disconnect the temporary water service to homes.

Residents have been provided with alternate parking areas in the old Elks Lodge Bowling Alley parking lot for the duration of the project.

Barring unforeseen conditions, the construction project is expected to be completed in 45 days.
