Women kicked out of Frozen On Ice for looking too real to get refund

SALT LAKE CITY — (KUTV) Two women who were kicked out of Disney’s “Frozen On Ice” last week will receive a refund and two tickets to a Utah Jazz game.

Frank Zang, Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment spokesman, confirmed the news Thursday but did not say whether the owner of Vivint Smart Home Arena has apologized for how the women were treated.

Kandra Pearson and Andrea Bedke had dressed up as the popular Disney “Frozen” characters Elsa and Anna Thursday night for the performance in downtown Salt Lake City. The pair said at intermission a representative from the production company told them they were a distraction and had security guards escort them from the building.

“I felt singled out,” Bedke told 2News earlier this week. “I felt embarrassed and humiliated in front of all these people.”

Zang said Monday the women were asked to leave because their “costumes and characters were so real that they disrupted the live performance due to the volume of other patrons seeking to take photographs.”

The spokesman also added, “it was unfortunate that they became too popular among the fans.”

Both Pearson and Bedke disputed that. They said they posed for just one photograph before being asked to stop. They said they did not do anything else the rest of the night and were only buying concessions when they were asked to leave.

Now, they are happy things are being resolved.

“I’m thankful that they’re making it right,” Bedke said, adding she hopes the company will take steps to avoid a similar situation in the future. “I just think that they need to communicate better to their employees what their guidelines are going to be.”
