IDAHO FALLS – Local designers, craftspeople, bakers and others are coming together to showcase and sell trendy goods to the people of east Idaho later this month.

“These vendors have true talent in sewing, crafting, design, woodworking, baking, etc., and are committed to making high-quality products,” organizer Taylor Gabbitas told EastIdahoNews.com.

This is the first ever Ampersand Market in east Idaho. The event incorporates a Bohemian vibe while featuring a high-end, hand crafted pieces.

Organizers Taylor Gabbitas and Amanda Larson call events like this the ‘shop small’ movement. During the market they hope to expose local talent and give shoppers a more interpersonal buying experience.

Items featured at the market will range anywhere from wood signs and décor, to bows, baby merchandise, bath bombs, and wall-prints.

“The handmade business movement has gotten huge lately and an events like this are really popular in other areas. There is a high concentration of amazing talent in this area and we decided it was time to highlight it right here at home,” Larson said.

Organizers said an event like this not only creates local exposure, but also helps boost the local economy.

Twelve vendors, or “makers” were selected to sell their homemade designs during the event. Participants refer to themselves as makers, or individuals or groups that are experts at designing and producing handmade pieces.

Makers participating include: Sugar Snap Felt Florist, Deets & Co, Lotus Bath, Vintage Ginger, and Joanne and Jerome, and others.

Participants can take part in four to five activity booths and enter to win raffles and vendor prizes. 25 swag bags are up for grabs to the first shoppers at the event. The handmade market will also include clothing boutiques, swag bags, a braid bar, selfie wall, and refreshments.

The Ampersand Market will be from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on April 23. It will be held at Snake River Landing inside the Super Fly Fitness workout studio at 901 Pier View Dr #102 in Idaho Falls.

Vendor applications are no longer being taken for the Ampersand Market, but organizers have started filling spots for future events.
