BLACKFOOT — Two farmhands were arrested in Bingham County last week for stealing some $19,200 in livestock.

Anselmo Lopez, 40, and Valentin Lopez, 44, were booked into the Bingham County Jail, on April 9, each with a $50,000 bond.

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland said both Lopez men worked for Bingham Countyrancher Chris Drakos.

Sometime before April, the men allegedly stole 16 head of cattle from Drakos and sold them to a farmer in Shelley. The value of the livestock that was stolen is $19,200, according to a news release.

An Idaho State Police Brand Inspector discovered the stolen cattle at a rural residence in Shelley and requested assistance from the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office in interviewing and apprehending the suspects, Rowland said.

EastIdahoNews.com has reached out to the local brand inspector’s office for more information. We’ll post if more details become available.
