Stabbing suspect arrested after high speed chase in Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS — Twenty‐year‐old Cristian J. Salgado was arrested for aggravated battery early Saturday morning after he stabbed a 39‐year‐old Idaho Falls man outside a Common Cents store on East 17th Street.

The Idaho Falls man was also booked into the Bonneville County Jail for driving under the influence and felony eluding.

According to reports, officers responded to the Common Cents, 520 East 17th St., around 12:16 a.m. for a report of a stabbing. Witnesses told police Salgado stabbed the victim and fled the scene in a red Dodge Magnum.

Officers spotted Salgado traveling east on West Sunnyside. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop at Sunnyside and South Yellowstone, but Salgado did not stop and increased his speed. The vehicle turned south onto Yellowstone and then east onto West 65th South.

Salgado lost control on his vehicle in the 600 block of East 65th Street causing the vehicle to spin and roll multiple times. Salgado and his 21‐year‐old female passenger were taken by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Salgado received a medical clearance and was transported to the jail.

The victim was also transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The police department does not have any information on his condition.
