AFTON, Wyoming — The iconic Angel Moroni statue was placed on the Star Valley Wyoming Temple on Monday, April 25.

The statue was placed at 11 a.m, exactly one year after the groundbreaking ceremony, which was streamed by SVI Media.

The placement of the Angel Moroni atop many of the LDS temples is not a religious ceremony, but rather serves as a milestone towards the building’s completion. When completed, the Star Valley Wyoming Temple will be the 154th operating temple worldwide and the first in the state of Wyoming. The finished building will be approximately 17,000 square feet.

The free public open house for the Star Valley Wyoming Temple will begin Friday, Sept. 23, and run every day through Saturday, October 8, 2016, except for the evenings of Sept. 24, Sept. 25 and Oct. 1 and 2, 2016. A cultural celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, and the temple will be dedicated Sunday, Oct.30, in three sessions.

As the project nears completion, members can make reservations for the open house by clicking here.
