Chamber CEO Speaker Series to feature CEO of Washington Federal

IDAHO FALLS — Roy Whitehead, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Washington Federal, will be the speaker for the Chamber’s CEO Speaker Series on Thursday, June 2 at the ARTitorium on 271 W Broadway, from 4 – 5 p.m.

Directly following the event, Washington Federal will host Business After Hours. There will be drinks, games, and a grand prize of four box-seat tickets to a Seattle Mariners baseball game.

The regional bank, headquartered in Seattle, Washington, manages $15 billion in assets and 240 offices located in eight western states. Mr. Whitehead joined Washington Federal in 1998 and has been CEO since 2000. He came to the company from Wells Fargo, where he had served as President of the Colorado Bank and its predecessor, First Interstate Banks of Colorado. He started his career with the Federal Reserve System in 1975. Mr. Whitehead is currently Chairman of the Seattle Community Development Roundtable and is the incoming Chairman of the Washington Bankers Association. He serves on the board of the United Way of King County, the Washington Roundtable, Year-Up and the Downtown Seattle Association. In 2005, he was appointed by Alan Greenspan to serve on the Industry Advisory Council to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and two years later by Ben Bernanke to serve as President of the Council. Mr. Whitehead holds a BBA-Finance from the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

The Chamber’s CEO Speaker Series is a chance for the community to hear from some of the region’s most successful and innovative business leaders. These industry leaders participate in an intimate Q & A session with Chamber CEO, Michelle Holt, where stories of innovation, challenge and triumph are shared. These insightful forums are free and open to the community. The CEO Speaker Series is a quarterly event in Idaho Falls.
