IDAHO FALLS — An 18-year-old Blackfoot man was arrested after police say he struck a woman in the face and head with a bat and vandalized a vehicle tire.

Justyn M. Rider‐Dayton was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on felony aggravated battery, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony eluding police and vandalism following an altercation Tuesday morning.

Idaho Falls Police say they responded to the 300 block of East Anderson for a physical altercation around 9:55 a.m. involving Rider‐Dayton and five others.

During the altercation, detectives say Rider‐Dayton struck a 34‐year‐old woman in the face and head with a bat and
vandalized a vehicle tire.

Rider‐Dayton and a 20‐year‐old man are then accused of fleeing the scene in a black Subaru and eluding police at a high rate of speed.

Rider‐Dayton eventually ditched the car and continued to elude police on foot before being apprehended by police in the area of 4900 West and 17th South, according to officers.

The Subaru was determined to have been stolen from Wackerli Auto on North Holmes on Monday.

Rider-Dayton is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. He is currently being held without bond.
