POCATELLO — A 26-year-old Texas man was arrested after police say he fired a gun during a fight.
Police responded to a disturbance in progress on Debbie Drive in Pocatello on Friday, May 20, around 4 p.m. Police say dispatchers heard someone on the line request for help. The caller then hung up.
When officers arrived, they heard a gunshot from within the home. Moments later a woman ran from the home visibly upset.
Laurence A. Maddox, of San Antonio, was identified as the man who fired the handgun. Witnesses told police that Maddox and another man went into a separate room of the home during an argument. Witnesses heard noises in the room that indicated a fight.
At the time of the confrontation and when the gun was fired, two children were in the home.
The reason for the fight between the two men and the details around the gun being fired are unclear. Police did confirm that there were no gunshot wounds, but the man Maddox allegedly was fighting was treated for minor injuries.
Maddox is being held in the Bannock County Detention Center on a felony aggravated battery charge. He had no bond as of Monday morning.
