MILFORD, Mass. —A funeral was held Tuesday for a 26-year-old mom and her 5-day-old baby in Milford.

Domingos Fraga’s wife Liz died after an emergency C-section at Milford Hospital, WCVB reports. Fraga said his wife bled out as she was being airlifted to UMass.

Their daughter, Juliet, was born, but took in too much blood during birth. Juliet lived just five days.

“I got to hold her and read to her every night,” Fragas said. “They were meant to be together. Liz wanted to hold her.”

At the wake, Fraga’s family learned his sister, Melinda, of Fall River, died from advanced cervical cancer. On Sunday, his 91-year-old grandmother had a stroke.

“All my family is being taken away,” Maria Fraga, Domingos’ mother, said. “It’s not fair.”

Domingos Fraga’s longtime friend, Tiago Pereira, started a GoFundMe page for extra support. “You’re already going through the whole emotional burden, and on top of it a financial one, I couldn’t see my best friend going through that,” Pereira said.

Domingos Fraga’s wife had zero complications with her pregnancy, and he’s trying to accept it all. “I truly believe Liz gave Juliet to my sister,” Domingos Fraga said with tears in his eyes.
