New café in Victor caters to commuters

VICTOR — Sherwood’s Post in Victor is open and ready to serve the valley some new breakfast and lunch options. Located on Main Street where The Station was, the new restaurant is catering to commuters who can take advantage of a fast, “grab n’ go” menu.

“Order online from your house, pay, and by the time you get here, the food will be ready for you,” said Spencer Wilson, part-owner and general manager of Sherwood’s Post.

Wilson describes Sherwood’s Post as “a modern, American café/restaurant.”

“It’s really approachable,” he said. “We want it to be elevated, but not pretentious.”

Despite the restaurant’s aim of having no lines, and a wait time of 10 minutes or fewer, Wilson said the offerings make up “a thoughtful menu.”

“All the ingredients are put in there for a reason,” he said. “Everything’s made in-house.”

In addition to standard American fair, such as biscuits and gravy, burgers, BLTs and Reubens, Sherwood’s Post serves espresso drinks, drip coffee and a variety of fresh salads.

A comfortable patio invites customers to enjoy their food in the nice weather, and Wilson said they hope to have their beer and wine list ready to go in time for Music on Main.

Wilson was recruited to be general manager of hospitality by Blixt & Company, which offers traditional English-style shooting expeditions in the area. (The Post’s menu also includes a pheasant pot pie in honor of the restaurant’s roots.) Wilson said they decided to open Sherwood’s Post under the umbrella of Blixt Hospitality as a way to expand their services after the end of the hunting season, which runs through the fall.

“The name is a little nod to the history of the area,” Wilson explained.

George Victor Sherwood is the city of Victor’s namesake. The city website says Sherwood was “the mail carrier between this community and Jackson, Wyoming, who delivered the mail through an Indian scare despite great danger.” On the Sherwood’s Post property is one of the city’s original post offices.

Sherwood’s Post is currently open Wed. – Sun. for breakfast and lunch. To view the restaurant’s menu and order online, visit sherwoodspost.menufy.com/#/.

“We’re open and looking forward to serving the locals,” Wilson said.
