Easy access, family friendly or recently stocked. All three choices and more are now available for Idaho anglers at the state’s online Fishing Planner.

Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s mobile friendly website offers fishermen a creel full of options for whatever they want on the weekend. The site includes species specific data, stocking status and maps to honey holes in every direction.

“We want to make it easy for anglers of all skill levels to research places to catch fish,” says Martin Koenig, Idaho Department of Fish and Game sport fishing coordinator. “The new Fishing Planner gives everyone easy access to the fishing rules, what species live there, how to get there and the facilities available”

The site also includes information about rare fish like Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Eastern Idaho is one of the last places in the West hosting Yellowstone cutthroat trout. The native fishery is managed as catch and release on the South Fork of the Snake River, while there is no catch limit on rainbow trout in the same water. Catch all the bows you like, but leave the cutties to do their thing in the spring.
