ROBERTS — Officials say a 15-year-old was speeding when the vehicle she was in crashed, killing another teenager and seriously injuring herself and two adult passengers.

Jefferson County Sheriff Detective Sam Tower tells EastIdahoNews.com the driver of the vehicle remains at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The two male passengers, ages 20 and 25, have both been released from the hospital.

15-year-old Charity Dunkley of Roberts was ejected when the car crashed at 2350 East 600 North near Roberts around 3:40 p.m. Monday.

It’s unclear if the teenage driver had a valid driver’s license and investigators are waiting for toxicology reports before determining if charges will be filed.

Tower says it’s a common practice to conduct toxicology tests in fatal crashes. Those results can take up to six weeks.

While Jefferson County continues to investigate, Charity’s family mourns her loss. Friends and loved ones are invited to a memorial balloon release for Charity at the Rigby city park Friday, May 27 at 5pm. A GoFundMe has been sent up to help cover funeral costs.
