IDAHO FALLS — A woman who admitted to driving the get-away car in a kidnapping case was sentenced to prison Wednesday morning in Bonneville County.

Sarah Oden, 23, of Idaho Falls will serve a unified sentence of 15 years – with a minimum two years in prison and thirteen years indeterminate.

Oden pleaded guilty to felony aggravated battery and felony possession of a controlled substance in March as part of a plea agreement. The first-degree kidnapping charge she faced was dismissed.

Judge Bruce L. Pickett sentenced Oden to one year fixed with four years indeterminate on the felony possession of a controlled substance charge. The sentence will run concurrent with the two years fixed and 13 years indeterminate on the felony aggravated battery charge.

“The sentence Oden received reflects her level of involvement with the case,” Bonneville County prosector Daniel Clark told EastIdahoNews.com. “Oden’s cooperation with us is also reflected in our recommendation of the two years fixed.”

Oden was among five people charged in connection with the kidnapping and attack of Brandon Bykonen on Aug. 27. Bykonen says he was blindfolded and tied up before being driven to the foothills of Bonneville County. Bykonen was later attack with a hatchet resulting in the loss of fingers and permanent disfigurement.

“I drove the car away after they attacked him,” Oden told the court in March.

Oden’s original charges were kidnapping in the first degree and mayhem, both felonies. In September of last year the mayhem charge Oden faced was amended to aggravated battery.
